Who we are
The Green Society (“TGS,” “we,” “us”) is a youth-led environmental nonprofit. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and how we use and protect it.
Information we collect
We collect information you choose to give us, including:
- Writing contest entries: name, email, age, grade, country, school (optional), entry details, and the file you upload.
- Membership requests: name, email, country, age (optional), interests, and any message you include.
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Technical: we store a one-way hashed form of your IP address to prevent spam. We do not store your raw IP address.
How we use your information
- To run the writing contest and contact entrants about results.
- To respond to membership requests and coordinate programs.
- To send newsletter updates if you subscribe.
- To keep the website secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. Winning contest stories may be published (for example, in our partner magazine) — we will seek your agreement before publishing your work.
Young people and parental consent
Our contest is open to students in grades 6–11, who may be minors. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please involve a parent or guardian before submitting your information. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete a child's information.
How your information is stored
Submissions and contact details are stored in a managed database, and uploaded files are kept in private storage that is not publicly accessible. Access is limited to authorized TGS organizers.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, or unsubscribe from the newsletter, at any time by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
